Guys, it was a loss for the left. You only had to see poor Ed Shultz face last night to know that.

The unions marshaled every resource they had for this fight. And, because there were no other elections going on, it received resources and money from around the nations, along with out sized media attention.

If they had flipped the Senate, they may have been able to sustain that enthusiasm. But, the sound you heard last night was of the air going out of the balloon.

Do you think the unions will pour money like this into additional fights? The return on investment just isn't enough.

The Republicans took some casualties last night, but they held their line.

Clearly. But it was only a loss in the recall battle.

If the Dems pussy out and don't go after the recall of Walker, which is still completely viable, they are the same pussies they've been since Obama took office.

A loss? Yes. The debate this page, though, has been about Mizzou's contention that "the unions spent tens of millions on these recall elections and have almost nothing to show for it." Not true. Middle ground, yada yada yada.

Two Republicans gone and its a loss for the left. Keep telling yourself that.

It's a loss for the Dems, but losing two seats should serve as a warning for the GOP: Don't overstep. You almost blew it by overstepping. Don't make the same mistake again.

This is like making it to the seventh game of the World Series and losing to the Yankees.

That was part of my point. Any money that was spent on the recall elections is money that can't be spent to try to recall Walker. Does it still make sense to try to recall Walker when there is still a republican majority in the state Senate?

I don't understand why the democrats have seemed to have backed off just about everything since Obama took office. I don't get it. They could have passed just about anything they wanted for the first two years and other than health care reform, which was big, but they could have kept going, but they didn't.

Where did that get them? Now, a presidential re-election that seemed to be a sure thing a few months ago is going to be tough. They didn't pass most of the stuff that they wanted and they still screwed themselves in the process.

Scott Walker may get recalled in January. He may lose. But at least he passed what his party wanted passed while he was in office.

It was meant as the first battle in a war.

They caused some casualties, but didn't breach the castle wall.

Sure, they lived to fight another day, but I'm not sure there's going to be a lot of enthusiasm for another attempt at storming the castle.
