Pay is pathetic for the skills they want. They need an ace, but the pay makes it seem like all they care to draw are 2's and 3's from the deck.

Position: Wild West town needs top shooter/multi-media ace
    Location: Ellensburg, Washington St.
    Job Status: Full-time
    Salary: $20,000 to $25,000

Our small but growing afternoon daily newspaper is looking for an ambitious, talented entry-level photographer/multi-media journalist. The right candidate will get a chance to prove themselves in the newspaper business with hands-on experience in all types of news photography and online video. The successful applicant will shoot news, sports, outdoors, and feature photos in what can only be described as one of the most beautiful places in the U.S. It's an added bonus if they can write an occasional article too.

Our coverage area offers downhill skiing, blue-ribbon trout fishing, and the vibrant, busy pace of a booming college town with a full complement of NCAA sports. This is an award-winning daily newspaper whose staff is driven to give its demanding readership the sort of coverage typically found at much larger papers. In 2008 our Web site was voted the best small newspaper site in the state for 2008 and we are looking forward to defending that title this year.

A bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent photography experience is preferred. Knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop are required and knowledge of how to edit video with Final Cut Express is preferred. If possible please include URLs where your work can viewed.

Interested candidates may forward their resume and work samples to: Jeff Robinson, Ellensburg Daily Record, 401 N. Main Street, Ellensburg, WA 98926 or via e- mail to jrobinson@kvnews.com

Never been through here, but I hear that the town is not a gem.
