    I'd put the rise of the Teabaggers up there, maybe throw the partycrashers in there.

    How could I forget Sully!?!? And the pirates!

    Also, I should have included the contested Iranian elections and subsequent protests. That was high drama for a couple of weeks, and still isn't dead. Obviously, the list is a work-in-progress.

    Obama's inauguration as the first non-white president of the U.S.

    Chrysler and GM entering bankruptcy plus actions those companies made (i.e. GM killing off divisions like Pontiac) would have to be on the list.

    3.) The emergence of social media sites Twitter and Facebook.
    4.) Health Care Reform
    5.) The Death of Ted Kennedy
    6.) The Yankees win the World Series (Top Sports Story)
    7.) The beginning of the end of the recession (Maybe)
    8.) The rise of unemployment
    9.) Jon & Kate Plus 8 (Like it or not, it was a huge story).

    Good call in Kennedy's death. That one hasn't been mentioned. Obama's election was in 2008; not 2009.
