Agreed - Richie Glover was one of the best players I've ever watched but
would not be considered a "star" on a national level.

Not sure where where one should rank Frazier.

Was a time Miami kept pumping them out:

° Kelly -- not so much a stat machine but he was the first in a line at Quarterback U

° Kosar -- 11-1, title, as a freshman (4th in Heisman voting); dubious honor of being other QB for Flutie's Hail Mary and Reich's all-time comeback (down 31-0 at half)

    ° Testaverde -- Heisman

    ° Walsh -- 27-1 as a starter, national title

° Erickson -- 42-7 ratio in senior year, Johnny Unitas Award

° Torretta -- Heisman, national titles in '89 and '91

That said, Matt Leinart was unstoppable for 3 years: 10,696 yards, 99 TDs, 23 INTs, 1 loss* in 3 seasons as a starter.

Yeah, Frazier wasn't a superstar in the way that Manziel, Tebow, Flutie and some other QBs were.

He'd make my list of best five college players of my lifetime, but he wasn't the national sensation that these other guys were.

Besides Frazier Nebraska pumped out some great college football QB's including Vince Ferragamo,Turner Gill, Eric Crouch and Jerry Tagge.

Oklahoma also pumped em out-- JC Watts, Thomas Lott, Steve Davis, Jamele Hollaway,
Jack Mildren and not to mention Troy Aikman before he transferred.

As far as star power goes, Tony Dorsett had more than Archie Griffin in the 1970s, two Heismans notwithstanding.

OJ & Archie Griffin would qualify as "in my lifetime" but I'm not old enough to have seen them play. I'd start with Herschel Walker and Bo Jackson as the top two in my college football watching lifetime. Not sure after that.

You can definitely make the case and many would agree but probably not in Columbus.

Shows you how much the game has changed in that RB's have moved down
    the scale.
