I just finished watching the Brian Bosworth 30 for 30 and made me wonder who were the five biggest college football stars of all-time?

Since the first game was in 1869, it's gonna be a difficult task limiting it to five. Off the top of my head, say Thorpe, Grange and let the argument begin. My choice for the best college player of my lifetime is O.J. Simpson.

Jim Thorpe would have to headline that list.

Herschel Walker -- greatest college football player I saw -- should be somewhere near the top, too.

Other names popping into my head. Obviously Archie Griffin. And Jim Brown. Earl Campbell. Archie Manning. I hate to say it, but Tebow. And Vince Young.

Herschel and Bo are the two from my youth that immediately come to mind.

And, although his "greatness" is debatable, I'm pretty sure no college player ever got more attention and media-coverage than Tim Tebow.

Red Grange was huger than huge in his day. He made the NFL legit just by joining it.

There's nothing debatable about Tim Tebow's greatness as a college football player.

I decided to approach it by decades. Don't have strong feeling on the 1950's and 1990's
    Pre 1920's Jim Thorpe
    1920's Red Grange
    1930's Sammy Baugh
    1940's Doc Blanchard/ Glenn Davis
    1950's Paul Hornung
    1960's OJ
    1970's Archie Griffin
    1980's Hershel Walker
    1990's Ricky Williams
    2000's Tebow
    2010's Cam Newton

I would throw Charles Woodson in there.
The only true defensive player ever to win the Heisman.

Although he won it because HE PLAYED OFFENSE, TOO!

That was Manning's award. Sham vote.
