Over time I think it will be Michael Phelps farewell for the moment and athlete. No one is going to challenge what he has done for a very long time if ever. Despite how much people talk about how great he is/was his legend will continue to grow with each passing Olympics.

Manteo Mitchell is my top memory. That's being a sports hero to the max.

Best moment to me might have been Farah and Rupp blowing by Ethiopians to go 1-2 in the 10,000. Place going nuts, all sorts of history, best buddies and training partners, and their reaction at the finish was priceless.

Morgan's late goal against Canada is high on the list, too. I loved Jeter crossing the line in the 4x100 knowing she and her teammates had broken an ancient world record. The Italian women's fencing team disintegrating into a bunch of giggling schoolgirls -- with lots of encouragement from the crowd -- on winning the team gold was a lot of fun, as well.

And still my favorite name -- Eelco Sintnicolaas.
