    1. College footbal ending Jan. 1
    2. The Houston Oilers
    3. Bo Jackson
    4. Monday Night Football on regular tv instead of cable
    5. No jumbotrons and artificial noise
    6. No BCS
    7. The Patriots still sucked
    8. You found out how good college football players were when they got to college instead of having a bunch of ego-inflated kids changing hats on signing day because they've already gotten too much media exposure.
    9. Steve Stone with the Cubs
    10. Guys were allowed to tackle quarterbacks without being fined

    2) NHL sans-instigator penalty
    3) The classic buildings from every sport that have been replaced by tricked out mausoleums
    4) baggy baseball uniforms
    5) The Ottawa Rough Riders
    6) The Jets and Nordiques
    7) athletes who didn't make more in one game then the rest of the populace does in an entire year.
    8) more organs in stadiums
    9) Harry Caray and Steve Stone
    10) When everything wasn't imediately proclaimed the best ever in sports.
    10) The historical names of divisions and conferences in the NHL

    1. Watching infield practice before MLB games.
    2. Starting pitchers warming up in front of the dugouts.
    3. Chiefs at Raiders for a 4:00 game with Charlie Jones. Willie Lanier, Bobby Bell & Curly Culp vs. Hewitt Dixon, Gene Upshaw & Art Shell; Wilson vs. Guy, etc.
    4. Wilt's Warriors/Sixers vs. Russell's Celtics at the old Garden or Convention Hall.
    5. Players playing pepper.
    6. Bobby Orr winding up behind his own net and going the length of the ice to score.
    7. Pistol Pete and his floppy socks at LSU.
    8. John Wooden on the UCLA bench.
    9. Jim Murray & Red Smith columns.
    10. The two greatest # 32's carrying the football: Jim Brown and O.J.

    1. Old-school MISL. The Kansas City Comets, in front of a packed house at Kemper Arena, playing Andy Chapman at the hated Wichita Wings.
    2. The banked in 10-foot shot from a 45-degree angle.
    3. Joe Montana magic. Nobody did it better.
    4. $5 general admission tickets, $5 beer and $5 parking.
    5. Australian Rules Football on ESPN. Don't understand the first thing about the sport, but I would watch it every day.
    6. Billy Tubbs at Oklahoma. "Please don't throw things on the floor no matter how bad the officiating is." Hated the dude but he made the Big 8 a lot of fun.
    7. College football's season ending on New Year's Day with like eight games on TV for about 13 hours straight.
    8. SportsCenter with Dan and Keith.
    9. MLS shootouts. Yeah, I'm a traditionalist too, but for reasons I can't explain, I loved the shootouts.
    10. George Brett legging out another double with Willie Wilson scoring from first base.

    1. The powder blue Cubs road unis, with white pinstripes.
    2. The midnight (Eastern) college hoop game on ESPN, usually Mountain West or West Coast Conference.
    3. Football coaches wearing suits and ties on the sideline.
    4. Day-of-game bleacher tickets at Wrigley.
    5. The two-line pass.
    6. The "Perspective" department in Sports Illustrated
    7. Dan Jenkins in Sports Illustrated.
    8. Organs at the ballpark.
    9. Parents supporting their young athletes, not berating officials and bitching about playing time.
    10. Bowl games with their proper names.

    9. Dodgers in Vero Beach, Mets/Braves sharing a place in West Palm Beach.
    10. Fantasy sports before the Interwebs.
