I'd put New Orleans ahead of Honolulu.

Awesome restaurants, several historical tourist locations, awesome restaurants, good nightlife.

    Did I mention the restaurants?

Santa Fe and Carmel instead of Santa Barbara and New Orleans? Meh.

OMG. I didn't know there was a Carmel, Calif. I was thinking Carmel, Ind. Which made no sense to me.

Santa Fe is the only desert city and probably the choice on the list if you wanted to hike, climb and do stuff on a river.

Come on now. If an Indiana city were to make this list, it would have to be French Lick.

I agree New Orleans should be on this list.

I'd imagine there's a safety criterion that kept New Orleans off

I have been to both and would trade San Diego for Carmel any day.

    1. San Francisco - Love the town
    2. Charleston - Never been but almost interviewed for a job there 8-10 years ago.
    3. Santa Fe - Never been. Sounds like a rough place in John Phillips' 'Me and My Uncle.'
    4. Chicago - Never been.
    5. New York City. Love it. Always been a New York wannabe. Only member of my family not born in the city.
    6. Honolulu - Meh, so many better places in Hawaii.
    7. Carmel - Nice town, but a little too hoity toity for me, a little too self-consciously hip and precious, too.
    8. Savannah - Never been but have always wanted to visit.
    9. Seattle - Never been
