Too fat for the death penalty (No, not another Charlie Weis thread)

    I remember there was a guy in Washington State who was going to be hanged, but he was so heavy, he would have been decapitated if the sentence would have been carried out.

    Sorry, JR, but this is where I differ from your view. This is one of those cases where the guy needs to be offed. Life sentence, message to criminals and "state-sanctioned murder" aside, at least we'd know there's no way this guy could ever hurt anyone again.

    How about we just let them spend the rest of their lives rotting away in an isolated prison cell, with no hope of ever being released? Wouldn't that actually be worse punishment, rather than putting them out of their misery?

    Who cares if it's a "worse punishment" or not?

    The object isn't maximizing the pain or discomfort the perpetrator has to suffer; the object is removing them from continued existence on the planet earth. The sooner, the better.
