Weighing in on the Imus flap:
"As a country ... we need to move toward a more civil society built on respect, not degradation.''
Does that go for gay people to, Tony?

How come Al and Jess did not call for Tony Dungy to resign?

He's not the only person to feel that way.

So, if there are enough people on both sides of an issue, each position is valid?

I'm just pointing out that it's very common for folks to respect people -- despite their flaws -- they feel are like them in some way and to castigate others -- even for the same flaws -- who they believe are different.

I get it, Tony Dungy is a great guy, stand up man, does his profession proud, talks to the media and doesn't openly disrepect the journalistic process, loves his family, went through an unspeakable tragedy with more dignity and grace than most people, is a raging homophobe, won the Super Bowl and works with sick children. A real players coach and man's man.

It's a shame we weren't this enlightened when Al Campanis was hung out to dry and his legacy destroyed.

Chuck will know exactly what I am saying.

    substitute "scapegoat" for n-ggers.

    or "politically correct to hate"
