Haven't seen TP and the boys in years. Will definitely be trying to hit that Toronto date, although I wish I could see Joe Cocker, ZZ Top or the Drive-By Truckers rather than CS&N.

Best TP opening act I ever saw was the Georgia Satellites. Close second would be Split Enz on the Hard Promises tour. Yeah, that was an interesting double bill.

Saw the Heartbreakers a few years back. Brian Setzer was the opener. Good times all around.

I'm not a huge Petty fan at all, but "American Girl" is one of the all-time great songs.

Petty's concerts are the best I've ever been to. The music is great and the atmosphere is unreal. Being outdoors helped that.

Seen them a bunch of times and it is always a great show. Hear what you're saying about a summer outdoors venue as well, although my favorite show was the Southern Accents tour, which was indoors, so I guess it doesn't really matter where they play....

Looks like a lot of indoor venues on this tour. A couple of outdoors venues with a lot of potential would seem to be Summerfest and the Hollywood Bowl.

Agreed. Saw TP three times - at least - at Kingswood Music Theatre, a shed at the Canada's Wonderland theme park. Was surprised to see he's playing indoors in Toronto this time.

The DC venue is Jiffy Lube Live? Is Petty playing the waiting room while you're hustled into buying a new PVC valve?

Those are some cool opening acts. And yeah, TP and the Heartbreakers put on a great show.

Wish it was DBT on the western leg of the tour.

BTW, The Gorge outdoor theater isn't really "in Seattle." It's actually in the middle of the state -- for which I am very grateful!

I saw Joe Cocker open for Tina Turner back in 2000. I really wanted to see him in addition to seeing Tina. My friend who was a self-professed Tina Turner fanatic didn't really care ... until she saw him perform. After he was done she was like "I need to go get his greatest hits CD." He totally won her over.

I've seen Crosby, Stills and Nash once and CSNY once. I'm glad they're the "opening act" in my area. I'd love to see that show!

I saw him at Verizon in Indy like 3-4 times. Just unreal.

I'll have to catch him in Atlanta this year. Too bad it's indoors. But it's mid-August, and what I hear about summers down here (recently relocated), it's probably a good thing being indoors. I don't want mid-60s Tom keeling over from heat exhaustion.
