O'Brien's deal is worth $1.1 million to $1.8 million, the Boston Globe says -- and the BC AD said O'Brien already was pulling in more than a mil.

Daily Hampshire Gazette story today (Matt Vantour's a good guy) says Don Brown has denied interest in the BC job. Can't post link since it's a subscribers-only story.

Link here mentions Steve Kragthorpe, Jim Fassel (oy) and UNH's Sean McDonnell -- can the Chestnut Hill crowd deal with someone coming from Cow State U? -- as candidates, along with Brown. If BC's gonna slum it and pick a state-school guy, Randy Edsall of UConn also wouldn't be a bad choice.

    Tuberville from Mississippi to Auburn.

Supposedly O'Brien was making just 750 at BC, putting him at the bottom of the ACC. He gets at least a 50% raise. Raleigh will pay well and the facilities are top notch. That was one parting gift Chuck left him.

He burned his bridges when he left BC, though the former AD who was ill-liked by many (Gladchuck) is gone. Anyway, once the Giants make the playoffs, he'll be unavailable again.

Well, O'Brien went from $750K to at least $1.1M, with the chance to bump that up to $1.8M given performance and academic clauses.

That's almost a 50 percent jump even if NCSU's kids don't behave and don't play well. And a dollar in Raleigh is worth than a buck in Boston. It's all good.

(And wicked is right ... ANYTHING to get rid of Chuck Amato.)
