Toledo asks Big East to vacate Syracuse's win

That guy should be thanking his lucky stars that the victim here was lowly no-clout Toledo in a game that was essentially meaningless to the overall college football landscape. For that reason, this will soon pass and be forgotten.

But, good lord, could you imagine the reaction and conspiratorial fanboi outrage if a contending SEC team had been screwed over by Big East officials like this? This game would be remembered alongside ones like the 5th down game on the all time infamous list.

That would only make up for a fraction of the homecooking the SEC provides favored teams that find themselves in a tougher game that imagined. No one hates an upset more than an SEC official.

They won't vacate it. It's sets too dangerous of a precedent.

Maybe they should take it up with the International League.

Big East should tell Syracuse it will become a forfeit unless Syracuse stays in the conference.

You mean the year when the Tide and the Swamp Rats both got blown weekly, when undefeated?

    Umpossible.

I'm sure Boise St. would like Toledo to have that 'W'...even just a little.

Man, that might cost Toledo a trip to the Potato Bowl at the end of the year. Oh, the trauma.

The fifth-down game affected a championship contender and the awarding of the championship.

A "contending" SEC (or any conference) team getting screwed would also affect a championship contender.

So yes, it would be remembered along the all-time infamous screw jobs. As it should. But SEC has nothing to do with it. There would be conspiratorial fanboi outrage if it happened to Oklahoma or USC or tOSU or lots of other schools.

That really was an inexplicable error by both the on-filed and replay refs. How does the replay ref never see the ball go behind the upright and decide that the kick is good?

I agree that you can't overturn the game result, but an awful error.

Toledo's played some pretty decent spread-beating ball this year, BSU aside.

Take note of the argument about the angle the replay official supposedly concentrated on...amazing.
