Today's random style thread: Athletic or athletics director?

    I converted a few years ago from an "athletic director" guy to an "athletics director" guy. Because he or she directs athletics, not athletic.

    Bingo. Same reason it's Jets coach Rex Ryan, rather than Jet coach Rex Ryan.

    Athletics director.

    Just like Lakers guard, Angels first baseman, Broncos quarterback, SportsJournalists.com Moddy.

    Yes, because they don't just direct one athletic. :)

    I like "athletic director." I've only used that or "director of athletics."

    I would say athletics director for all the reasons listed above.

    Don't be surprised to see the title of "activities director" start to pop up. In some school divisions, AD's are required to oversee plays and other after hour functions that have nothing to do with athletics.
