We do an option at 30 for the third quarter, mandatory for the fourth.

Or, if the coaches agree to it, at any point in the second half.

My game last night was over in 1:56, including an extended homecoming halftime. I was home before 10.

There is a rule down here that I suppose is a pre-mercy mercy rule. If a team is down by so many points (I believe it is 4 TD's) they get to pick one player off of the winning team to bench for the rest of the game.

    This better be a joke.

Nope. I've seen it done. When the team I was watching had the chance to pull someone from the other team, the coaches chose not to. But, once, when the situation went the other way, they pulled someone off our team.

Where the heck are you? and remind me never to cover a game there.

I know this is done in some pee-wee leagues, but if this is high school, that's ridiculous.

    Nice.

But that's why I ask since I'm in Texas and have never heard anyone ever have this rule. Not saying a league or district doesn't have it, I've just never seen it.

That rule could really screw up a game. If I'm the opposing coach, I pick the team's starting center to sit out.

Yeah. Never heard of such a rule at the high school level.

But wouldn't it be fun in college??

Would Keenum have played 10 quarters yet this season?

In six/eight-man high school leagues, I'm pretty sure he'd dominate. But in college football, his team has won by one score three times in eight games, so yes.
