    "In a statement, the Austin Police Department said the officer acted appropriately since the encounter was recorded and another officer was present."

    So as long as it's recorded and someone else can watch, do what you want.

    Imagine if when a police officer was injured, the news media accessed that officer's record and reported on whether he or she had "a history" of complaints or other administrative actions - like the media tends to do with civilians every time an officer shoots a civilian.
