I think purple drank and sizzurp are both slang terms for the same thing.

It's just a concoction of cough syrup, jolly ranchers and Sprite or some kind of soda.

Yes. Drank and Sizzurp are the same stuff. It got real big around a decade ago when Houston rap got really big. The stuff was made popular by them and the drank, coupled with sleep apnea, killed Pimp C back in 2007.

Like Care Bear said, syrup/drank/purple stuff/barre is codeine/promethazine cough syrup mixed with Sprite or 7-Up or Mountain Dew or whatever. Not the cough syrup alone. The Jolly Ranchers are added to enhance the sweetness.

 

My favorite slang term for the stuff is "lean," as in what it makes your body do.
