    It's not uncommon in civil suits to have the amount of the verdict reduced. Judges would prefer an agreement to having to make a decision.

    The LA Times isn't liable. The former owners are (the company formerly known as Tronc).

    The meter is still running on interest probably. In some states it is a great investment to delay receiving a claim with statutory interest.

    Would need to check the California laws in terms of taxes that would be owed.
