We don't have an "official" Christmas party. One of the editors is hosting a party at her home and invited all of the newsroom. It's more of a clique thing, so I don't expect anybody I know to be there.

As for bonuses, we get a turkey. That's one turkey for the entire holiday season.

When I first started (and we weren't run by Gannett), we'd get a $100 gift card to Wal-Mart (I think), a choice of turkey or ham for Thanksgiving, then whatever one we didn't select for Christmas.

My fucking brother, who works at a damn call center and has only been there for a few months, is scheduled to get one month's pay as a Christmas bonus.

What's a Christmas bonus? Seriously. I've never gotten one. A turkey? Seriously? And I've worked at places that, as far as pay and benefits go, were on the decent side.

Paid days off are always good.
I've been at my current gig long enough where I get 4 weeks of paid vacation... plus a bunch of sick days (use 'em or lose 'em) and personal days.

My God, three pages and no mention ...

My gift was a year-long membership into the Jelly of the Month Club.

On a serious note, no bonus and we had one lame Christmas party with a one-man band or something. Door prizes were the centerpieces on each table. Last year we had a casino with three free drinks (one this year) and some great prizes.

At least the food was awesome this year.

Nice, fat monetary bonus is in the bank.

I'll be buying my own hams and jellies at my leisure.

  9. No bonus here, but the boss did take us out for lunch. Kinda sucks because at my last gig, we got two weeks paid for our christmas bonus.

Any you think that was scheduled that way on accident? Come on, the HR folks know what they're doing.

They were just trying to limit the sexual harrassment charges.
