Tips for moving to a magazine job

After a career as a writer for a newspapers and a web site, I am moving to the magazine world. I've written a couple dozen big magazine features, and certainly I've read hundreds of them, so I think I have a pretty good idea of what makes a good mag story and how to write one. That being said, I figured I'd throw it out here to see if anyone had anything beyond the obvious. Maybe a good book to read?

One quick thing that comes to mind: tense. For some reason I always feel when I'm doing a mag profile I should use "says" instead of "said," but sometimes that works out awkwardly.

Can't answer your question, but congrats on the new job.

(And best of luck with everything else you're dealing with.)
