MLB introducing new batting practice caps for the 2013 season. For the Mets and Braves, Mr Met and The Chief get top billing.

Design makes more sense than the previous models. The brim is now like the in game cap which makes more sense. Why practice in something different from what you would where in the game.

I don't know. It can get pretty hot in some of those cities in the summer. The batting practice cap is a lighter fabric that keeps the players refreshed. It also allows them to have a dry / clean cap for the game which probably helps their in game focus.

Noticed that The Yankees have both home and road bp caps which is a good idea. I bet we'll see more teams doing this.

The Giants already wear an orange-brimmed cap on Sundays. Another MLB money grab.

I quite like the A's batting practice cap there.

    Point of order: It's Noc-A-Homa. With a C.

As for the hats, protest groups have already started campaigning against that Braves hat. The Braves referred questions about it to MLB. I'd be mildly surprised if it actually makes it to market. Just checked and there's nothing like that on the Braves' website store. Uni-watch actually had something about this a few of weeks ago.

And that is not Chief Noc-a-Homa on the hat.

    That's the Screaming Indian.

    This is the Chief:

Nice Braves hat. I'm getting one to go with my light blue script A hat and matching Dale Murphy jersey. </childofthe80s>
