I wouldn't sell many issues. My wife would buy one to make fun of and my mom and sister might pick up copies. That's it. :D

Times managing editor, Richard Stengel was on Morning Joe this morning.

He said the "short list" of those considered included Kate Middleton, Admiral William McRaven (Seal Team Six) and Congressman Paul Ryan.

Mika got all upset about Ryan being considered. "I don't get it."

They asked Stengel if Grover Norquist had been considered, and he replied that they had just done a feature on Grover, and that he and Ryan sort of "competed" for that space of consideration, with Ryan winning.

But, it still exposes the "award" -- like SI's -- as flawed. It's the Person of the Year -- who we haven't done a recent feature on, and who we think will drive newsstand sales, without causing people to cancel their subscription in protest -- Award.

That was the worst idea ever. This years is pretty bad as well.

Seal Team Six would have been a home run.

The more I think about it, the more of a slam dunk that is. What a missed opportunity. Shame on you, Time.

I wouldn't mind a collective winner if it was something as specific as Seal Team Six.

But "you" or the "protester" are annoying.

I don't buy that. You could do that story without talking to them.

I think that would make it even better, if you could frame it right.

In a "Look at me!" age of reality television stars and grandstanding politicians, our Person of the Year walks among you, anonymously, just grateful to serve.

    Are you protesting this decision?

Did anybody ever see the "I killed Bin Laden" spoof that Rob Riggle made for "Funny or Die" or some similar site?

    Hilarious stuff.

Also Chinese dissident Ai Weiwei was on that list. It's a great big "say what?!?!?!" all around. Paul Ryan, would he even make the top five in the world of politics?
