Time's Person of the Year

That's a fair reading. Newsweek is markedly to the left of Time, and it's pretty much always been that way. Time was markedly-right at the time of its founding (and remarkably insensitive, if not racist, as well, in the 30's). Has Time moved left, subsequently? Somewhat, but not nearly as much as some whackjobs may believe. Is Time a liberal publication? Not on your life.

I don't know who drums up Newsweek's "Conventional Wisdom" feature, but would suspect it's an utterly-unreconstructed '60's Johnson leftover. The spin employed weekly in that so-called feature is beyond redemption, and cannot be taken seriously.

Meanwhile, the first Time Person of the Year (not counting last year's lame "You") to own a Super Bowl ring is ... Vladimir Putin. What were the odds of that?

Yep, I'm convinced. Some blogger in the Netherlands put it better than my history professors ever could.

Hey, the Netherlands is home to some of the finest ahistorical, random wingnut blogging in the world.

You don't know, you better ask somebody.

Not yet . . . Time's "Oblivious Bitch Of The Year" won't be announced until mid-February.

Romney is up in arms over Putin's selection. This guy's running for a pretty important job. You'd think you could comprehend basic stuff.

He probably has an Ann Coulter blow-up doll instead.
