It's being announced Wednesday and apparently neither I, nor You, will be a repeat winner. According to TV Newser The "elite eight" are expected to be:
    J.K. Rowling
    Al Gore
    Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
    Condoleezza Rice
    Gen. David Petraeus
    Steve Jobs
    Vladimir Putin
    Hu Jintao.
Rowling is leading the online reader poll, although there is no guarantee the editors will choose any of the eight.

Rowling is probably the safest bet. All the others, except for Jobs, are likely to cause more than a few subscription cancellations. Personally, I think they're going in a different direction.

If it is that genocidal maniac Putin, someone at Time may end up shot.

If they could make Hitler their Man of the Year during WWII, then they could make Putin their Man of the Year now, but I doubt that's who they're going with.

Out of those 8, I would go with Al Gore. The attention he's brought to the global warming issue combined with the Nobel Peace Prize make him a strong contender for the honor from Time.

Hey, he's got an 80 percent approval rating.

But for some reason, my Russian friend doesn't know anybody that likes him. And she lives in his hometown.

  7. What, exactly, has Ms. Rice done this year?

BTE, I just thought that was Shania with Russian writing for some reason. Who is that? A buy-a-bride?

Isiah Thomas should get a write-in vote.

Didn't they choose a German leader about 65 years ago with a good approval rating?
