    For crying out loud, Mexican is a term referring to people from the nation of Mexico. How is that different than Japanese, British or American? I admit I did take issue with a certain family member who referred to every single Hispanic, regardless of nationality as "Mexican". But, when used in the correct context, there's nothing derogatory about it.

    I don't know about forbidden, but I do know that the word "goof" has become a very provocative insult in some circles.

    It started out as jail slang for pedophile and is now becoming a mainstream no-no.

    Nah, "goof" has been around for a long, long time. I can tell you that lots of ballplayers used it in the 1910s ... meaning exactly what you think it means: a fuckup, an idiot.
