Am I the only one that thinks its odd they brought in 35-foot trees from South Carolina instead of planting and nurturing some of the 15-footers they have that were grown from acorns of the dead trees?

The time-lapse is cool. I guess I'm a cynic. At UNC we have an old dying poplar tree that has a similarly legendary status to the Toomer's Corners trees. When the Davie Poplar dies, if the University just goes and finds some random big poplar to replace it, I'd be pissed.

Sadly, I am expecting a copycat crime, with the perp being smart enough to not reveal themselves next time.
