Jesus. Lighten up. You didn't offend me. I'm just clarifying what the ballot says. I wasn't arguing your point at all. It's a good point. I just think people need to know what the award is for when discussing the award. It was intended for everyone, not just you. I was not offended. You shouldn't be either.

Absolutely not every quarterback is a system quarterback.
Chris Leak was not a system quarterback for Florida last season. Chad Henne was not a system quarterback. Matt Leinart was not a system quarterback.

A system quarterback is a QB who puts up disproportionate numbers because of the plays that are called. You think Peyton Manning had a ton of 1- and 2-yard touchdowns at Tennessee? Hell no. Tebow probably had 10 red-zone rushing touchdowns).

Alex Smith did the same thing in 2003/4 under Meyer. It's Meyer's system.

How to win a Heisman, 2007-style:

    1. Have your very good QB take all your team's runs from inside the 2-yard line.

    3. Profit.

That sucks. Sorry to hear it. And I could have done a better job of making sure you knew I wasn't attacking your point. I apologize.

Do you think the fact he finished second nationally in passing efficiency, with 29 TDs and 6 picks (one pick every 52.8 attempts), AND was among the more productive runners in the nation had something to do with his winning?

yes, half of Tebow's touchdowns came within 9 yards.

    so were half of McFadden's.

but yeah, keep harping on it.

oh, and tebow had more rushing yards against Auburn than McFadden, 75-43.

hate all you want. The kid had an amazing year and was rightfully recognized for it.

    Absolutely.

I also think that if Meyer handed the ball to the FB or RB in situations where every other school hands it off, he wouldn't have even been invited to the ceremony ... much less won the thing.

And Tebow had -15 yards against Georgia. Apples to enchiladas.
