With her daughter Doris Chen, former NCAA champ, playing a Q series golf event, Doris hits the ball OB.

Apparently, mom kicks the ball back into play.

    Doris eventually gets DQ'd.

I have heard players complain in the past that they suspect fathers of, shall we say, international players, kick balls back in play in LPGA events. With almost no galleries on some holes, it's fairly easy to get away with it, or think you can. And former commissioner Carolyn Bivins' widely-ripped move to institute English-only spoken on the golf course was in reaction to numerous complaints about parents and swing coaches yelling club selection and coaching to players in their native language.

Of all the ugly rules scandals in golf, this has to be near or at the top. This will follow Doris Chen even when she's 80 years old and playing in a Tuesday ladies league.

JFC. On the one hand, the things parents do for their children who play sports, but for this young woman to not know that this was wrong or accept the caddie's repeated advice to call a rules official? Even as they walked up the 18th well after this happened? JFC.

My impression is the player knew everything full well and thought she could get away with it. I give the caddie a lot of credit for speaking out; if he's toting a bag in LPGA Q-School then chances are he's grinding for work, and speaking out against your player is a big no-no. But he chose honesty.
