In a 36-hole match, I think 19 and 17 would be the biggest possible margin.

If it was 36 holes, you can win 19 and 17

This gives Tiger something to shoot for next year.

At this rate, he's making 2000 Tiger look like a hack... you know the guy who won three majors, including the U.S. Open by 15 shots?

Or duck hooked one into a tent.

Heck, I went to school with the guy, but it looks like Tiger has no one to challenge his game other than his own high standards.

Actually, it's possible to win a 36-hole match by a score of 20 and 18.

If you are up 20, there aren't 18 holes left, are there?
19 and 17 maybe if you win the first 19.

In match play, the penalty for carrying too many clubs is a deduction of one hole for each hole at which the breach occurred (with a maximum of two holes per round). So if a player in a 36-hole match lost the first 18 holes and then discovered he was carrying 15 clubs, he would add a loss of two additional holes to make it 20 and 18.

In other words, it is POSSIBLE to lose the first hole of a match and be 2 down.

I didn't say this was likely, just that it was possible.

So if he loses all 18 holes, that extra club wasn't much help.

I've seen golfers do all kinds of stupid things, like carrying too many clubs, get DQ'd because they went to the wrong course, run out of golf balls, put their score in the wrong box on the scorecard, play from the wrong set of tee markers, play the holes in the wrong order . . . the list goes on and on.
