That'll be great when Memphis joins, gets the automatic BCS bid at 9-3, and Utah/BYU/TCU/Boise/Anyone Else Who Has Actually Built A Program gets the shaft simply because Miami used to be in the Big East.

Tulane once was a member of the SEC. Once.

Where's the old Metro Conference when you need it?

Who cares? Both football conferences suck anyway.

This is just a way to get into the BCS somehow.

If they add Memphis you could make the case that the Metro is now the Big East.

And if Memphis leaves the league CUSA isn't adding VCU. No football.

Should this happen it will be interesting to see what CUSA does. There aren't a lot of attractive replacement options.

I can't see how there's a story here unless somebody leaves the Big East, which apparently has no plans to expand or contract.

BCS money aside, loaylty runs pretty deep in the Big East. Look at the commissioner's flow chart - Gavitt, Tranghese, Marinatto. All with PC ties and with long and strong ties to the league.

Could never see the league asking a hoops only school like Seton Hall, Providence or Villanova to pack its bags. Especially after it trusted Tranghese and helped to keep the league together after the ACC defections.

Now DePaul, on the other hand, seems like an odd fit. That would be the one school that would have to go to really make this work.

A lot of the league's private schools had to be convinced it was in the league's best interest when Cincinnati and Louisville jumped aboard. They're sure as hell not going to embrace Memphis, for myriad reasons.

Groh or no Groh, one of these things is not like the others. Why would UVa leave the ACC?

And Memphis without Calipari is what, exactly ... other than cleaner?
