    Not Piazza, but this guy is also of Italian ancestry and also has six letters in his last name, that's a pretty darn good hint.

    Phelps is not a college athlete. I suppose Bannister migh thave been, so I should have said, "American college athletes."

    Rafer's wrong for the SI answer, and it's not Mel Harder or Sudden Sam for the Indians' question In fact, I accidentally included an extra letter in his last name. But here's a hint, he played college baseball at a basketball school.
