    College football questions today. Probably obscure.

    1. Which current Division I team has gone the longest (as a Division I-A program) without playing in a bowl game?
    ANSWER: NMSU is correct. Last bowl was the 1960 Sun Bowl.

    2. VMI's last football victory over a program that has always played at the I-A level came against ...
    ANSWER: VMI it is, 6-0 over Va. Tech (then VPI) on 11/21/81 in Blacksburg. The Keydets also defeated UVa twice in the late 1970s, back when Wahoo football was a real joke.


    3. George Washington discontinued football after the 1966 season. Who did they defeat for their last victory?
    ANSWER: Furman is correct, a 49-28 GWU victory over the Purple Paladins on 10/29/66 in Washington.

    4. Which current Southeastern Conference team has the highest all-time winning percentage in bowl games? (minimum of 20 games).
    ANSWER: Ole Miss is correct; 19-12-1 for a .613 percentage.

    5. Which teams won the final Freedom, Micron P.C. and Bluebonnet bowls?
    ANSWERS: Utah won the last Freedom Bowl in 1994. NC State won the last Micron PC Bowl in 2000. And (correct answer here) won the last Bluebonnet Bowl in 1987.


    EASY MUSICAL BONUS QUESTION: Two accomplished rock musicians are buried in same cemetary as the namesake of one of their signature songs. Name the musicians, and the song.

    HARDER MUSICAL BONUS QUESTION: Who was/is Walden Waldo Robert Cassotto?
    ANSWER: Bobby Darin is correct.

    1) New Mexico State. Even Hal Mumme couldn't rescue the bunch in Las Cruces.

    5) N.C. State won the final MicronPC Bowl. (Someone in the athletic department is probably still using the comped PC ... )
