    Thing was 48 teams, then, so not even a playin shot for 'em. If they won in a year other than those two . . . again . . . don't know it.

    Wasn't there one or two years where the tourney was 52 teams? I remember play-in games and the winner was the no. 12 seed.

    I thought the number was 53 for a couple of years before the NCAA went to 64.

    Only reason I know that, Ben, is my folks went to Central Connecticut and whenever CCSU makes the tourney the stories always mention the Northeast Conference is 1-and-whatever in the NCAA.

    Of course I also remember those play-in games. I remember San Diego being in one of them. No idea why.

    Robert Morris defeated Georgia Southern in 1983 in a play-in game to the round of 48, then lost to Purdue. It's considered an NCAA victory.

    Still waiting on question 1. It has surprised me it has lasted this long.

    Coincidentally, this man's brother is the answer to a trivia question about another franchise in another major-league sport.
