    Good joke.

    You had me going, for a while. My career might take a detour through the Coast Guard. Officers there fly longer than we in the Army.

    When most people say four branches, they're referring to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

    If I remember correctly, during wartime, the Coast Guard is absorbed into the Navy.

    i don't think anybody has posted this ...

    Coast Guard is a separate branch

    BUT ... during wartime, it becomes part of the Navy
