She's hardly a fraud. She seriously outdrove Buddy Rice in the same car last season, but no one is going to call him a fraud, because he has a dick.

You don't hear about her going to NASCAR because she just signed a contract in IndyCar, and because she doesn't particularly want to go to NASCAR.

Nobody is going to call Rice a fraud because his face is also on the Borg-Warner Trophy. However, he hasn't been the same driver since his wreck a couple of years ago, and he had all kinds of problems.

Danica *can* drive. She proved that in last year's Indy 500, when her eighth-place finish was as impressive as any run of the day. She was driving a crap car -- the Panozes were nowhere close to competitive last year -- never made any mistakes, kept the thing on the lead lap and kept it in contention. IMO, that performance was much more impressive than her top-five drive a year before when she made all kinds of mistakes and got away with them. RLR was also missing their all-everything chief -- Scott Roembke -- which would be like the Colts playing the Super Bowl without Peyton Manning.

Last year's performance was overshadowed by the photo finish at Indy -- and then, RLR switched to the Dallara, which put them several months behind everyone else in terms of setup -- and neither she nor Rice (nor Simmons) were really competitive the rest of the year.

Duno seemed to be OK in practice today ... slowest car on the track (slower than Marty Roth, which takes work), and 5 mph off the leaders' pace, but her speeds were comparable to the other backmarkers (Roth, Simmons) and regenerated startup teams (Alex Barron).
