It's really nothing personal. Just a pet peeve about naming homicide victims off rumors from other message boards, which often are wildly off the mark.

I was terribly uneasy about the sourcing from the school paper's tweets last night, but it was mainly the way it was framed. They were hanging waaay out there for quite a long time.

I covered three SWAC teams (using that conference because it's the one I was covering with regard to this reference) and all two of them always had guard shacks out by the entrance to the campus where you had to "check-in" in order to enter the campus.
Maybe that's what all campuses will come to, where searches have to be performed before visitors can enter.
But then, guns would be easy to bring on campus at most anyplace.

This is a sad, sad picture of college life.

None of that would have prevented this incident, which occurred at an off-campus apartment complex.

It's funny, but in reading the comments on the al.com story as it was breaking last night, one of the posters was reporting the guys who were dead (two were correct; I think they were saying Mack had also been killed) and insisting it was true "because they were there."
The same person also said "social media is the most immediate and reliable way to disseminate information."

Just talked with an in-law nephew who's 24 and lives at those same apts.
He knew a few of the people who attended that party and said he hosts random parties there periodically but this never happens.
This is a gated apt. complex, he said.
