Remember when this came out but never saw it. I may watch on Starzz tomorrow.
I'll report back if I do.
I love casinos and miss 'em terribly since I've been married and had a kid.

    I may watch this.

It's true and so is another similar book called "Busting Vegas" which is even crazier.

What bothered me most about the book/movie disconnect (and I don't think this is too much of a spoiler) is that in real life the blackjack team had to go all over the country to try to stay a step ahead of the house. But the movie is all Vegas, since of course Vegas looks better on the big screen than a Mississippi riverboat.

watched it with the 15-year--old little shockster. thought it was very good. i'm sure the book is better -- but aren't they almost always?

the film was fine. i'll read the book next. but i sure didn't feel i wasted two hours at all.

Not true. As I said, Mezrich has admitted in an interview that he embellished several parts. And the Globe interviewed several real members of the blackjack team said that the book was complete BS.
It's an entertaining read, but no more factual than most movies that say they are "Based on a True Story"

Saw the movie yesterday on Starz (or maybe Encore) and frankly thought it was quite boring. I also thought the Lawrence Fishburne character was silly -- as was the ridiculous guy who got drunk and lost his nerve scene.

After watching it twice in the last two days, it was OK. Wouldn't rush out to watch it again.
