The screenwriter, Peter Steinfeld, has also written the upcoming "Slap Shot" remake.

Start with the movie, then read the book. Then go buy the soundtrack to the movie. :)

The book was great. I read it before I saw the movie (as is my custom, I hate seeing movies before I read the books because I like to know the real story before Hollywood touches it).

Has anyone read the other book by Mezrich about the Reptiles? I've always wanted to but I haven't had the time to find it.

I liked the movie even though it strayed quite a bit from the book. I'd say it's worth a look though.

Ben Mezrich admitted he made up a lot of the stuff in Bringing Down the House. Which I pretty much knew already.

The book was meh, the movie sucked.

Spent a buck on the movie at a Red Box (so I didn't feel ripped off) - but I've found that my movie instincts are pretty good. Movies I hurry out to see when they come out I really like, movies that look interesting enough to rent are enjoyable. Movies that I spend a buck on because there isn't anything on TV, are less than riveting.

I have neither seen the movie nor read the book. I have now set my DVR to record it. I'll check in with my review. But no one will care. Do we really exist?

Bringing Down the House is an amazing book.

21 is a pretty solid film if you don't compare it to the book.

21 is like most gambling flicks (Casino, Rounders, The Cooler) -- first 20 minutes or so are great as the details of the game and the con artists are explained, then the plot kicks in and it starts to lose steam. Of course some plots are better than others.

  9. The Cooler held up for much longer than 20 minutes thanks mostly to Alec Baldwins' balls and Maria Bellow's breasts.

Not a fan of William H Macy's ass though.

Movie was OK, though it was starkly different from the book.

It's definitely worth your time, however, just to see the pure rush Ben gets from learning the ropes.

Book is significantly better, but I read that 3-4 years ago on a plane out to Vegas, incidentally.

Didn't do me much good. Unfortunately, my mind doesn't work quite that fast when it comes to counting cards.
