For my siblings and I (all of these have family connections):
    1961 -- Mary Ellen (1 & 97 then, 112 & 699 now)
    1963 -- Samuel Weldon (87 & 700 then, 26 and not in top 1,000 now)
    1966 -- Robert Edward (5 & 30 then, 61 & 148 now)

Once again...no kids named Spike. I guess I'm a loner.

  3. All this does is make me think of the people I went to high school with who named their child "Hemi"

Names used to have significance, or at least were picked based on flow and aesthetic quality. Now, they're just attempts to stand out and make sons and daughters "different."

Mr. Lugs really wanted to name our son Johan. I said, "confusing the ever-loving shit out of everybody is not fun."

It's not to make them different, but it is to make them stand out, for search engine optimization purposes.

My wife and I save originality and cuteness for the pets. My sons are Nos. 1 and 16.

I don't think mine will ever be near one of these lists.

Oops, spoke too soon. I am in the last 70 of the top 1000.

There are 744 names between my first and middle names.

My first name was ninth in the year I was born, but has dropped into the 100s.

My son's name was not among the top 1000 last year, though a variant spelling was in the 900s.
