Sophia's No. 1 for girls? Did I walk into a time rift? Or do I severely misjudge the societal impact of The Golden Girls?

The whole "retro names for girls" thing has gotten huge. People naming their kids stuff like Madge and Beverly.

Weirdly enough, neither of those names made the top 1,000.

My son's name (ordinary, easy to spell) has moved from 179 when he was born (late 1990s) to 44th now. My wife, who chose the name, was ahead of the trend.

My own name has moved from 718 the year I was born (1954) to 346. Strangely, it was 738 in 2002 but must be gaining popularity.

My name checks in at 25th. Not sure if that's a good thing.

When my wife got pregnant with our first, we had a friend jokingly say, "Please don't name him anything that ends with -aden."

    We complied.

I drop him off at day care for the first time and of 10 kids in his class it was Jaden, Caden, Hayden, Braden, Kayden, Aiden...

My name was 52 in the year I was born (1976).

The last year it made top 1,000 was in 2000, when it was 986th. :D
