This Yankees/Orioles game is a joke

Too bad this game started after Manky's bedtime, so he can give us SJ's stats in the rain after 11 p.m.

This was a regularly scheduled game. Guess they couldn't play two on Wednesday, since the game starts at 1pm anyway, and all they're doing afterward is hopping back to Baltimore real fast. What a debacle. Even the Orioles announcers noted the US Open was cancelled for the day -- at friggin noon yesterday.

Wondering if the grounds crew guys, the ushers, the concession folks and others in the stadium even get to go home between games. If you live up in Connecticut somewhere, it's not worth it.

Everyone also talks about how the umpires are the ones in charge, but isn't that only once the game begins? Wasn't the decision to wait it out and then play made by the Yankees? The minute the first pitch gets thrown its in the umpires' hands. But prior to that, I thought the teams were in charge?

Isn't there some rule about a team's last visit of the season to a particular venue? Or am I making that up?

According to Kay and Singleton last night (or rather, earlier this morning), MLB is in charge after the All-Star break of deciding whether to play or not. Not the umps or the Yankees. And they said Selig/MLB wanted them to play, no matter what.

And the Yankees have agreed to give all the fans, even the ones who didn't show, a free ticket to a game next season. Good for them, although they should give the 500 or so fans who stayed until the end two free games.

If Yankee season ticket holders need any further proof of the disregard shown them by the club, last night was certainly it.

Making the trip to The Bronx becomes less fun by the day.

As per their ususal M.O.....Except when they had to face David Price earlier this year. That game was called well before first pitch.

I don't really think that sort of gamesmanship is unique to the Red Sox and Yankees.

Never. I might become an Orioles fan. Have always liked Buck.
Also a fan of Boog's Barbecue.
