Rich socialite puts girlfriend in wheelchair, lacerates her liver.

Defendant's history: Three pages of arrests for assault, larceny, forgery, theft, marijuana possession, probation violations and contempt of court, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records. And his mother once filed for a TRO after he shoved her down a flight of stairs. She also suffereed a broken back and two fractured ribs.

His defense: Something called "intermittent explosive disorder."

The judge: unimpressed. One year, less time served.

With "I can't believe you think that makes me a criminal! What?!? Jail?!? Me?!?" photographic goodness.

The news story sucks because it does not explain what is the absolute maximum sentence possible for this fucker, and an explanation why he did not get it.

I may be in the minority, but I think the rich and well-heeled have earned the right to assault their mothers and girlfriends. It's really not for us to question.

I'm not typically a violent person, but reading about this tall, 'tough' guy taking his aggression out on women really makes me wish bad things upon him...

And I thought this last line was completely out of left field...

"His former girlfriend left the courthouse with her parents, who planned to treat her to lunch."

At least the editor took out the rest of the sentence, which was " . . . and a good time was had by all."[/editedtoomanyneighborssections]
