Crazy that in the 16th year of interleague play, the Braves have never played in Kansas City (first time Chipper has played there). That's just nuts.

With the game in Kansas City, it would have been a perfect opportunity for a media outlet to shine a spotlight on the economic discrepancies that exist in the game. How the Royals haven't had a winning record in two decades and how the team used to be so good in the 70s and early 80s but can't compete with the big spenders.

Baseball needs to do more in these areas and not just continue to stick its head in the sand in regard to low revenue franchises.

Royals ownership sucks. That's the beginning and end of your argument.

Interesting to see that Pennsylvania team-based connection closing it out for the NL. Hanrahan settled in for some serious cheese on the KC guy.
And whether you roster him with the AL or the NL, Papelbon's gonna get it done more often than not.

Did I hear Tim McCarver correctly? Did he refer to the phrase "electric stuff" as a new term in baseball?

Time to call it a day.

At least we had a humble MVP up there taking his trophy.
    Way to go, Melky.

From a player standpoint — Cabrera is worst to win MVP since???

Worst name recognition of all time All-Star MVPs — Top 5 being Cabrera, Leon Wagner, John Callison, Jeff Conine and LaMarr Hoyt?

The Royals had a winning record in 2003. They went 83-79.

And there's always been a disparity between large and small markets. The St. Louis Browns only won one pennant before moving to Baltimore, and that happened during WWII when a lot of the real players were in the military.
