"after a long period of loving exploration and trial separation"

    Can someone explain?

They'll split it; and if she's smart, she'll give him the sports section.

Loving exploration and trial separation are frequently bought together.

How many lawyers do you suppose will be working on just this divorce? Like, 50?

I'd be stunned if the doc isn't already filed. Sure seems she was in at the ground floor though.

Then again - I was stunned when Lindsey Buckingham said Fleetwood Mac had no legal doc on how the band operates.

As someone who's similarly situated (marriage duration, NOT financially) I'm sorry to hear this news on his behalf. I can understand it, but its like a job, at times you can take for granted the built in comfort and positives that you've built up in 25 years and you assume that its going to be just as good if not better at the new place. I wish him and his wife the best. As for "loving exploration", the optimist in me says that's with respect to being honest with each other while exploring separation rather than in a contentious and combative manner.

So much money involved that he won't even feel it. And she will, in a good way. Probably a win-win situation.

I took "loving exploration" to mean they were both playing the field and liked what they found. Seriously, it's a really weird term. Not as bizarre as "conscious uncoupling," but still, it brought me up short.
