    Damning with somewhat faint praise, I would say. (I haven't seen any Fletch, so I'm not commenting on the movie, but on Chase's film career).

    From what I understand from two sources, Biggins was rather well behaved the last two days.

    This guy does something I absolutely despise: artistic "criticism" based on some tortured attempt to ascribe a political point of view to the work being discussed.

    "So, why is Fletch such a failure? It could be that—like it or not—hipster liberalism just doesn't mesh well with screwball comedy."

    Yeah, go fuck yourself, Mr. Slate.

    I hear this stuff way too much these days. In this case, Fletch likes some of the junkies and the cop is a bad guy; therefore it is a liberal movie, and therefore it is a failure and isn't funny.
