Thinning the high school herd

    One of our area teams (a perennial power) could conceivably go all the way through to the state finals without traveling more than 45 miles for any game. In Texas, that's just nuts. (This depends on a strong team from Region I that's pretty far east winning its region.)

    Anyway, we entered last week with five and left with four. The fifth led going into the final quarter and ran out of gas, but gave it all they had. We could easily go 4-for-4 this week, which means we could have two state finals (Division I) and two state semifinals (Division II) the following week.
