Actually, both vinyl records and cassette tapes (!!!) are making a comeback among young hipsters.

Can't understand the cassette tape thing, unless it's just a funny retro item. The sound was crap, they broke/were ruined easily and it was difficult to find individual songs.

 

And don't forget uneven sides. Last song on Side A would end and you would have to sit through a minute of static for auto flip or fast forward so you could listen to Side B.

 

Yep, that's another problem.

The only thing cassettes had going for them was, at the time (1980s) they were the best portable option for hearing your music.

A few better options have come along since ...

Isn't there a "what song are you listening to" thread? I would have put this there but fits here too.

 

I remember calling a number for the my-town time and temperature.

 

I remember, before Al Gore's internet, calling a 900 number once.
