Dicky I know you were just trying to give an example but FNL is quite a bit more than a book about regular people.

I for one applaud the Times' newfound commitment to gender diversity. I'll take 3.4 of them any day.

If this is supposed to be some dig at me, you're going to have to be more clear.

News flash: There are a lot of hot girls on college tennis teams.

I know, you'd have never guessed that. But it's true. Trust me.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

The sports information intern who wrote this player's bio incorrectly spelled the name of her favorite movie. Yep, I'm a dork.

Frankly, ALL the stories read like that. Or seem to.

Is there ever a case where "Man comes out, shunned by everyone, regrets his decision"?

If such stories exist, where are they? And if they don't exist, then the other ones simply aren't news anymore.

Haven't you been told? America is a racist and homophobic country. Although these are the only stories you ever see, they are clearly outliers.

Who in the world is pushing that narrative at this point? Gay rights activists are pushing the opposite one - that America is accepting of homosexuality and, thus, ready for gay marriage. Arguing that America is a homophobic country would be about as counterproductive to that cause as anything they could possibly say.

Don't be contributing to the narrative.

The Thibodaux (La.) phone book is half-filled with peeps with the surname Thibodeau, Thibodaux or Thibodeaux.

    So what's your point?
