    MADISON, Ill. — Many patrons petted the 3-month-old kitten when it wandered into their bar, but authorities say a former animal-control officer slammed it against a door frame and threw it to the floor, killing the orange stray.

    Steve Skoklo, 32, faces up to three years in prison on the Madison County aggravated animal cruelty filed Wednesday.
