"I quit my job" pieces are fantasy columns for hipsters.

Maybe she just left out the part where he said, "Now shut up and get back to work, Toots," and slapped her ass while taking a drag of his stogie.

I haven't read the whole thread, so my apologies, but has anyone pointed out that she's not a Millenial?

Man do I hate those, especially in some sort of life defining narrative.

Yes. So I deemed her an honorary one.

I'd let @Double Down take a math test for me and let @doctorquant write a term paper for me.

Interesting. Doesn't seem very accurate, though.

Again: My issue is not with her accuracy, per se. It's that she pretty obviously made up hacky quotes to fit her narrative. If she had made an honest effort to represent the truthiness of what the man actually said, rather than a caricature version that precisely fit her narrative, as unnamed sources in Mitch Albom columns have been apt to do, I'd be perfectly OK with that.

And, yes, I was wrong about her being a millennial. Regardless, the world doesn't need another "Why I Quit My Job Piece." By anyone.

    Oops. Wrong thread.

I'll be honest, DW, they don't read as all that hacky to me. Perhaps the guy is (or was) fairly good at speaking in reasonably composed prose. I can recall conversations with students, for example, in which what I said was fairly well-ordered. Had someone accurately quoted me in an article ("When My Turd of a Professor Stomped on My Dreams") it would have sounded as crafted as what she wrote.

Sometimes, we have to do things we don't want to do.

    I'm with her.

    That's just life.

    I'm with her.

    That's how you make money.

I'm with her. But a little skeptical at the ogre lawyer boss saying something so on-the-nose about making money.

You think you're going to go out there and find some job you enjoy?

    Hmmm ... Doubt growing.

You think you're going to find a job that's going to make you happy?

    Doubt growing.

    Grow up!

    Bullshit. He didn't say that.
